Describe the service you can handle
An overseas restaurant needs to understand your background: à la carte service, banquets, buffets or quick-service dining. Explain your actual responsibilities, familiarity with payment systems and ability to describe a menu. Examples of handling complaints or a busy dining room make an application more convincing than a general statement of enthusiasm.
Look beyond the advertised shift times
Clarify basic pay, any tip-sharing arrangements and breaks between services as separate issues. Also ask about meals, uniforms and transport home after a late closing. A restaurant serving international customers requires you to check the languages used during a typical shift, rather than relying on the language in which its advert was written.
