Specify the vehicles and diagnostics you know

An overseas mechanic application should identify vehicle categories, powertrains and diagnostic tools you know. Explain significant repairs and your approach to fault finding. Experience in a dealership, independent workshop or vehicle fleet needs different emphasis, allowing a recruiter to understand the settings in which you have developed your practical judgement.

Examine workshop equipment and training

Ask which diagnostic equipment, technical documents and training accompany the appointment, particularly for electric or hybrid vehicles. Clarify flat-rate work, productivity targets and any standby arrangements. Personal tool provision and responsibility during road tests should also be defined within the proposed conditions rather than left to assumptions after relocation.
