OVERSEAS WORK JOB FROM ABROAD 2022 2023 INTERNATIONAL EMPLOYMENT BY COUNTRY BY OCCUPATION OVERSEAS RECRUITMENT DEFINITION

A job from abroad in 2022 and 2023 is by definition a recruitment that is provided by a foreign employer who is based overseas for the benefit of a worker who will have to leave his country of residence to join this offered work position.

The job from abroad fulfills two roles: on the one hand to provide a foreign company with human resources from outside its country of activity and on the other hand to allow an unemployed person to find a job abroad.

An overseas work has become essential not only to acquire professional experience other than that obtained in one's own country, but working abroad has become a necessity for any employee whether from the northern or southern hemisphere.

The job abroad is nowadays thanks to global globalization a natural way to fill positions as long as the required qualifications are met. If nowadays, we don't want to fall into unemployment, flexibility and mobility contribute to the success of a professional career.

WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF AN OVERSEAS JOB?

The advantages of a job abroad exist of course and must be well assessed objectively and emotionally, depending on the country from which you are leaving. Because if it is a country at war and where it is a question of saving his life and that of his family, there is no need in this case for a SWOT analysis (strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities method).

The obvious advantages of a job abroad are:

  • Better career opportunities because based more on meritocracy than 'big' school degrees and where personal relationships are key.
  • Net (after tax and social contributions) salaries are often more attractive abroad due to a liberal salary policy and advantageous taxation for the employee.
  • Professional success abroad is encouraged and even celebrated and not envied like at home.
  • A better quality of life due to a more open, less negative and less 'big mouth' and above all less discriminatory cultural environment.
  • A more pleasant working climate with an enriching cultural diversity.
  • Personal fulfillment by discovering other ways of life than spending Saturdays washing your car or going to the suburban hypermarket.
  • On the condition of mastering at least English, the chances of finding a job abroad are greater than in his country if the latter suffers from an economic and social crisis.
  • A physical separation from family and friends is now compensated by new telecommunications technologies.
  • Finally: global globalization leaves no other choice but to have great mobility if you want to survive professionally.

WHAT ARE THE DISADVANTAGES OF WORKING ABROAD?

The disadvantages are numerous but are rather linked to a fear of the loss of comfort which wants to avoid new challenges and prefer immobility to mobility.

Disadvantages that should rather be called side effects of choosing a job abroad:

  • Working abroad is different than working at home.
  • Fear of the unknown, of a new culture, lack of perfect command of the language.
  • Being a foreigner in a country can be a challenge for some.
  • Job security in countries where unions are not existing.
  • Health insurance system less generous than in his country where you go to the doctor for the slightest scratch.
  • Different pension system with the risk of losing pension benefits in his country.
  • Homesickness as soon as a problem arises and you tend to idealize your country.
  • Risk of social isolation if one is introverted.

Advice to follow: do not leave to run away from problems or because of a temporary fed up that has no connection with the country where you live. Because we think the grass is always greener elsewhere. Of course, sometimes it is really a question of facing financial obligations and in this case we will have no other choice but to try the adventure, the majority of which have come out better than staying in their country.
